Member Service Technician
East-Central Iowa Rural Electric Cooperative (ECI REC) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Member Service Technician to be located at one of our operating centers in Independence or Vinton, Iowa. ECI REC is a member-owned electric distribution cooperative currently serving over 7,000 members throughout 11 counties in the East Central Iowa region.
About this position:
As a Member Service Technician, you will be a key resource for our members, providing expert advice, troubleshooting, and hands-on solutions to enhance their energy experience. You will work closely with members, contractors, and team members to ensure optimal performance of electrical systems while promoting energy efficiency.
What you will do:

Install, troubleshoot, inspect, and repair residential, agricultural, and small commercial electrical systems.

Verify installations for member rebates and assist with energy efficiency and high-usage concerns.

Monitor Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system.

Inspect, test, and repair various types of metering systems.

Inspect and commission Distributed Generation systems.

Provide on-site safety demonstrations.

Assist in onsite stray voltage investigations.

Promote and advise on electrically fueled equipment, energy solutions, and best practices.
Qualifications we are looking for:
Required:
-
High School diploma or equivalent
-
At least two (2) years of experience in electrical installation, repair, and maintenance
-
Valid state electrician license
-
Basic knowledge of plumbing and HVAC systems
Preferred:
-
Five (5) or more years experience in electric cooperatives or similar organizations
-
Familiarity with various metering applications and distributed generation systems
-
Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This is an active role that requires regular standing, walking, climbing, and lifting items over 50 pounds. You will frequently travel to member locations and may work in outdoor conditions.
