Accountant
East-Central Iowa Rural Electric Cooperative (ECI REC) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Accountant, to be located at our Headquarters in Urbana, Iowa. ECI REC is a member-owned electric distribution cooperative currently serving over 7,000 members throughout 11 counties in the East Central Iowa region.

About this position:
As an Accountant, you will support the financial operations of the Cooperative by assisting with day-to-day accounting activities, financial reporting, and compliance requirements. This role plays an important part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records while supporting audits, budgets, and regulatory reporting.
In this position, you will be involved in general ledger activity, financial statement preparation, and day-to-day accounting functions such as accounts payable and accounts receivable. You will also assist in audit preparation, tax reporting, 1099 processing, and maintaining financial data used for regulatory and internal reporting.
This role supports multiple areas of the Cooperative’s financial operations, making it a great opportunity for someone who enjoys both detail-oriented work and broader financial processes.
Education, experience, and skills required:
- Associate degree in Accounting or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and three to five years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems
Preferred qualifications include experience in the electric utility or cooperative industry, and working knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, GAAP and regulatory requirements.
