Your Electric Rate

How Electric Rates Are Determined

Several factors go into determining a location's service rate, such as building a new structure at a new service location, changes to an existing service location, or the addition of a building to an existing service location. A review of the electric utilities and the service location takes place to establish the electric rate.

Different Rate Groups

ECI REC's three primary rate groups are below, click on your rate group to find your rate class.

Residential

A variety of rates apply to homes. You may also want to view a sample monthly bill or the more detailed rate chart.

  • Rate 7: The Heat Plus Rate is available from Oct. 1 to May 31 to members with separately metered electric heating systems.

  • Rate 10: Time-of-Day Service is an optional rate that consists of an On-Peak and Off-Peak rate.

  • Rate 11: Urban Electric Residential Service is used for homes in designated residential development areas.

  • Rate 31, A-C: Rural Farm and Residential Service applies when a residential dwelling is served in addition to agricultural facilities. For this rate, the amount of the Facility Charge depends on the capacity of the transformer(s) serving the site.

  • Rate 31, D: Rural Farm and Residential Service applies when a residential dwelling is served in addition to agricultural facilities. This is a multiphase rate.

  • Rate 3: Large Power Service applies if the billing demand is 75 kilowatts (kW) or greater.

  • Rate 16: Large Power Time-of-Day Service is an optional rate and applies if the billing demand is 300 kW or greater.

  • Rate 20, A-D: Small General Service is applicable if a residential dwelling is not to be served, and the billing demand is less than 75 kW. See the explanation of Demand Charge.
