As we continue our commitment to keeping our membership connected, it’s important to shed light on the factors that influence the outages experienced by our members. By understanding these causes, we can collectively work toward enhancing the reliability of ECI REC’s distribution system. The graph below illustrates the causes of outages in 2023 and the percentage of impact each category was responsible for.

The categories shaded in green represent outages ECI REC could reasonably expect to control. Thanks to our ongoing commitment to Work Plan improvements, vegetation control, animal protection, and system design, we had a record-setting year in 2023, with the lowest ever outage minutes in these categories (28.2 minutes per member-account). The remainder of the graph represents the categories that could not be directly controlled by ECI REC. These categories include power supply, public-caused outages, and planned outages.

While 2023 was a relatively quiet year weather-wise, ECI REC is nevertheless very proud of our accomplishments. It is truly a team effort to reach these goals. Congratulations to our directors and employees on their ongoing commitment to providing the best possible service to our members!
