This past April, Frank Weber, member services director of East-Central Iowa REC, announced his retirement, and Tuesday, June 30, was Frank's last day at the Cooperative. Frank began his career with ECI REC's parent cooperative, Buchanan County REC, in June of 1971 as an apprentice lineman, working up to a journeyman by the spring of 1974. After five years as a journeyman, Frank served as member service director for 3 years, and in 1983 he headed back out into the field as a journeyman for 8 years before becoming line foreman, where he led line crews for 13 years. Frank has been serving the Cooperative's membership as ECI REC’s member services director for the past 11 years.
An open house was held on June 26 to honor Frank's years of service. Family and friends, heating/cooling contractors, Cooperative affiliates, former Cooperative co-workers, and ECI REC personnel and directors were present to express their appreciation for the years of dedicated work, mentoring, and leadership Frank displayed throughout his 44 years at the Cooperative, as well as warm wishes for his retirement.
CEO Steve Marlow congratulated Frank, stating they've worked together for 34 years. He recalls many good memories and wishes Frank all the best in his retirement. Frank will be greatly missed by his colleagues and Cooperative affiliates. Thanks again, Frank, for your many years of dedicated service and friendship—you will be greatly missed!
