|Members arrive at the 2014 annual meeting.|
The East-Central Iowa REC annual meeting is less than two weeks away, and members should have received their annual meeting notices and ballots in the mail this week. If members are not able to attend the meeting on June 18, they are invited to return their ballots via mail. The meeting notice can be downloaded here.
This year’s meeting will be held at the Vinton-Shellsburg High School located at 210 West 21st Street on the south edge of Vinton, just east of Highway 150 and Highway 218. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m.; the meeting begins at 11.
The purpose of the meeting is to demonstrate the advantages of your member-owned Cooperative. As a member and owner of ECI REC, one of these advantages is that you play a crucial role in the government of your Cooperative. You choose people to represent you on our Board of Directors, and these leaders make critical business decisions throughout their terms.
This year, ECI REC members will have the opportunity to vote for Board representatives for three positions from District 2, the Buchanan County area.
- In Director District #21, Don Shonka is running unopposed.
- In Director District #24, Jim Barz and Jason Krueger are running (incumbent Lloyd Bathen is retiring).
- In Director District #27, incumbent Ryan Kress and Fred Wiegert are running.
In addition to the voting, the annual meeting will feature speakers who will review the highlights of 2014 and the expectations for 2015. Lunch will be served, and attending members will receive Eastern Iowa Honor Flight Quaker Oats/PepsiCo food bags. There is a limit of one per membership. Members who are present have the chance to win many gift card prizes to area businesses.
