Whether shopping for new appliances or recycling the old, ECI REC provides options for members to save money—and even earn some extra cash.
Pull the Plug on Old Appliances
Outdated appliances are energy hogs, driving up your monthly bill. Wouldn’t you rather make money from them? The Pull the Plug program rewards members by providing instant rebates to pull the plug on old high-energy-use appliances and makes sure the appliances are disposed of properly.
- REFRIGERATORS, $35 EACH
- FREEZERS, $25 EACH
- WINDOW AIR CONDITIONERS, $25 EACH
In 2014, ECI REC members recycled 14 window air conditioners, 19 freezers, and 37 refrigerators, which added up to an extra $2,120 in members’ pockets.
If you are interested in sending your energy hog appliance out to pasture, visit the Pull the Plug web page. There you’ll find instructions and an online form to sign up to have your appliance picked up for recycling via Pull the Plug.
Get Money Back With Appliance Rebates From ECI REC
ECI REC members can earn a reward when shopping for new appliances. Not only can you realize energy savings throughout the life of your appliance, you’ll also get some money back in the form of a rebate on qualifying appliances from your Cooperative.
One ENERGY STAR® appliance* eligible for a rebate is a clothes washer. You’ll save:
- $60 per unit for a washing machine with electric water heater and electric dryer.
- $30 per unit for a washing machine with electric water heater only.
Access our residential rebate brochure to view even more rebates!
In addition to the in-home appliance listings, agricultural and commercial appliance incentives are also available. With Iowa agricultural producers spending nearly a billion dollars annually on energy for crop and livestock production, there are opportunities for big savings! Contact ECI REC at 319-443-4343 or find our rebate forms online.
* Limit 2 appliances per home or account per year unless otherwise noted. Go to www.energystar.gov for a list of ENERGY STAR-rated appliances. Rebates must be submitted within 6 months of equipment installation. Because rebate qualifications vary, review the appropriate rebate form for the requirements prior to purchase. In general, members planning to apply for rebates should keep receipts and/or invoices and must fill out the appropriate rebate form. Programs subject to change at any time without prior notice.
