The East-Central Iowa REC annual meeting is less than a month away, and members should have received their annual meeting notices and ballots in the mail this week. If members are not able to attend the meeting on June 19, they are invited to return their ballots via mail. The meeting notice can be downloaded here.
This year’s meeting will be held at the new Independence Junior/Senior High School located at 700 20th Avenue SW, Independence. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m.; the meeting begins at 11.
The theme for the meeting is “Your Cooperative Advantage.” As a member and owner of ECI REC, one of these advantages is that you play a crucial role in the government of your Cooperative. You choose people to represent you on our Board of Directors, and these leaders make critical business decisions throughout their terms.
This year, ECI REC members will have the opportunity to vote for four positions on the Cooperative’s Board of Directors. There are three positions from District 1, the Benton County area, up for election this year, and one open position in District 2, the Buchanan County area.
- In Geographic District 1, Director District #11, incumbent Jeff Elliott and Mark Kotouc are running.
- In Geographic District 1, Director District #12, incumbent Chris Sackett running unopposed.
- In Geographic District 1, Director District #15, incumbent Bill Frazier running unopposed.
- In Geographic District 2, Director District #26, incumbent Steve Rau and Harlan Peterson are running.
In addition to the voting, the annual meeting will feature speakers who will review the highlights of 2013 and the expectations for 2014. Lunch will be served, and attending members will receive a thermal insulated shopping bag (limit of one per membership). “To thank our members for attending, we are also giving them the chance to win $50 gift cards or our grand prize of $100,” said Steve Marlow, ECI REC CEO. “We truly value this opportunity to meet our members and to share Cooperative information and news.”
