An EPA proposal to regulate greenhouse gas emissions at new power plants seems to take an “all-but-one” approach to energy generation. It’s true that America needs a common sense solution to climate change. The administration has repeatedly said that it supports an “all-of-the-above” energy strategy, including renewable energy, nuclear energy, natural gas, and clean coal. Electric co-ops have pursued “all-of-the-above” by spending billions on innovative, clean, and efficient technologies. The new regulations, however, due to prohibitive restrictions of coal energy production, could cause energy prices to rise.
