At last year's annual meeting, attendees enjoyed a timeline poster with highlights from the history of ECI REC and rural electrification. The timeline will be on display again this year.
East-Central Iowa REC members should have received their annual meeting notices and ballots in the mail this week. If members are not able to attend the meeting on June 20, they are invited to return their ballots via mail. The meeting notice can be downloaded here.
This year’s meeting will be held at the Heartland Acres Agribition Events Center in Independence. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m.
The theme for the meeting is “Building for the Future,” a fitting phrase as ECI REC prepares to welcome new CEO Steve Marlow. Outgoing CEO Harry Ruth and Board President Steve Rau will speak about the highlights of 2012 and the expectations for 2013. ECI REC is also honoring the 75th anniversary of parent cooperative Buchanan County REC.
Attending members will receive a magnetic LED light for coming (limit of one per membership). “Members who are present have the chance to win $25 gift cards or our grand prize of $100,” said Greg Pavelka, ECI REC marketing and economic development director.
In addition to a good meal and the possibility of prizes, ECI REC members will have the opportunity to vote for three positions on the Cooperative’s Board of Directors. There are two positions from District 1, the Benton County area, up for election this year, and there is one open position in District 2, the Buchanan County area.
