Shortly before 9:00 am, ECI REC’s power supplier dropped power to three of ECI’s Benton County substations (Harrison, Karr, and Becca), affecting 1,189 members. As of this post the power supplier has not provided ECI REC with a cause of this outage; however, there was a lot of lightning occurring when power went off.
Members who receive power from ECI’s Harrison substation were back on in 7 minutes via ECI’s remotely operated SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) system. The Becca and Karr substations had to have two circuits per substation restored – again within 10 minutes via the SCADA system power was redirected to restore these two substations.
We could not get all members power restored with the SCADA system; however, with the help of ECI crews all power was restored in 54 minutes.
An automated call will be going out to the affected members explaining the transmission outage.
